MORE INFO
At 30 feet in length, the Nonsuch 30 Ultra offers a spacious and well-appointed interior that makes it ideal for both day sailing and extended cruising. Its single, large sail—typically a fully battened mainsail—simplifies handling while providing excellent performance in a variety of wind conditions. This rig configuration, combined with a deep, fin keel, ensures stability and good upwind capabilities.
The interior layout of the Nonsuch 30 Ultra is designed with comfort and practicality in mind. It features a roomy salon with ample seating, a well-equipped galley, and a separate forward cabin, making it suitable for small families or couples. The large windows and open plan enhance the feeling of space and light inside.
Overall, the Nonsuch 30 Ultra is celebrated for its ease of handling, solid construction, and the comfortable cruising experience it offers. Whether you’re a seasoned sailor or new to the sport, this sailboat provides a satisfying blend of performance and luxury.
Hinterhoeller Yachts of Canada produced about 1,000 of these immensely popular cat boats. Mark Ellis designed the boat to be very easy to sail with a single wishbone rigged mainsail, and a modern fin keel and spade rudder. The
result was a boat that is surprisingly fun to sail, and that points just as well as other sloops on the same vintage. Off the wind, catboats are fast. The build quality of Hinterhoeller is legendary. At 11’10” beam for 30’4″ length, the beam to length ratio is extreme in comparison to most monohulled sailboats. This
results in an enormous amount of living space, and a very comfortable cockpit with clean uncluttered decks. Salty Kat / Pirate is in good condition, but she is very simply outfitted.
At this time the fridge is a portable 12 volt Igloo. There is no AC. The electronics are not functional and she could use a good compounding and wax.
