The Seaward 26RK is an American trailerable sailboat with a lifting keel, a lifting rudder, and a hinged mast for de-rigging, making it an ideal boat to trailer, gunkhole, cruise, and race.
The design was built by Hake Yachts in the United States starting in 2005. Also noteworthy, is the fact that the boat was actually built by Island Packet Yachts which is owned by Hake Marine.
The boat has a draft of 6.00 ft with the keel extended and just 1 ft 3 inches of draft with it retracted, allowing operation in shallow water or ground transportation on a trailer.
The boat is normally fitted with a small outboard motor for docking and maneuvering, but a Yanmar Diesel Inboard Engine was a factory option and Volantis has been outfitted with the upgraded engine.
The design has sleeping accommodation for four people, with a bow cabin “V” berth and two main cabin settee berths, around a flip-up table. The galley is located on the port side just forward of the companionway ladder. The galley is equipped with a single-burner stove, icebox and a sink. The head is usually just a portable type, but was also upgraded on Volantis with a proper manual Jabsco marine head and holding tank, with an enclosing door. Cabin headroom is 5’ 10’’.
The model is typically outfitted with a tiller for steering, but was upgraded to the optional steering wheel on Volantis.
The design has a hull speed of 6.66 knots and 33′ bridge clearance/air draft.
